It's a 5 colour A2 litho limited edition print on grey tinted uncoated 270gsm stock. At €20 I think its a bargain. It says 'less' upside down and is based on Rams' iconic ET66 calculator.

I have recently been in contact with this photographer from Bundoran that has caught my attention. His Flood series is the result of a lucky roll of film that survived water damage during Galway's bad flooding.
What was developed left an other worldly layer over some original photos, when combined we see some pretty cosmic scenes. The above photo from Hinterland, when viewed in the set, sets the tone for an empty, white, very rural Catholic village story. They are described as 'a sketch' so I look forward to the direction they will take. Take a look at his portfolio here

Called They are us, it uses Dempsey's lyrics and Maser's
lovely typographic graffiti to add a lick o colour
to Dublin's more isolated areas.
I saw one today that might be part of their project,
it was covering an entire side wall of one Ballymun tower. Really good.

missed this last weekend..
Irish Times said:

"A GEORGIAN house transformed by plastic will open as an art exhibition space this weekend.

The “Plastic House”, designed by Dublin practice Architecture Republic and commended by the Architectural Association of Ireland (AAI), has invited seven artists to exhibit their work in the quirky home.

The terraced house’s original design is native to Georgian Dublin, comprising a grand parlour to the front with smaller rooms to the rear at half-levels one up and one down from the street.

The architects revamped the space in Dublin’s East Wall by adding a cruciform made from polycarbonate and steel to create the “Plastic House”.

The AAI Award’s assessment of the project posed the question of whether the “Plastic House” is an art installation or a house.

The architects have decided to reinforce this controversy, by inviting a number of Irish artists to exhibit their work in the space, further sparking the evergreen debate on the boundaries between art and architecture."

Sean Englishby's project for DIT's photography exhibition really stuck
with me. It shows a real and honest picture of a couple taking a road
trip from Kansas to St Louis across one State for their honeymoon.
They are close and like the same things and everything is plain and easy.
I think it also shows an American landscape in a cool way, a world of
motels and car parks and the outdoors.

"This trip marks both a beginning and an end. It celebrates the beginning of the couple’s new married life but also marks the end of another period of time, when the dynamic of friendship between the individuals in question was uppermost. This journey represents the last time that the photographer will see the couple for the foreseeable future, friends whom he had photographed on an ongoing basis for many years. This lends the resulting images both a joyous and melancholy air."

Dock Discourse June 2010 is a four-week exhibition, installation and discussion event project, around the changing nature of the Galway Docks. Initiated and curated by local architect Aoife Considine, Dock Discourse is a multi disciplinary project engaging with artists, thinkers and the general public to comment and question the nature of change taking place in and around the Galway Docks. The works are concerned with ideas of environmental change, development processes, the role of the artist in the changing city along with reconsidering the spaces, structures and habits of this part of the city on the waterfront.

Beatyard Weekender,2 June-7 June Elaine Hoey's work will be up

These are going to look great they're 1metre plus and she is going
to give us 6 pieces for the show.

She is a mixed-media artist from Monaghan who works mainly creating two dimensional light art. She is inspired by visual media, billboards, and the world of the consumer junkie. Her new series of work for 20...10 “Reproduce X” explores the manipulation of the female image and our emotional responses.

I'm a big Hockney fan. I think now I am a bigger Robert Ballagh fan.

Just went to see the Robert Ballagh Monograph. It is a €2,500 hand crafted, limited-edition work that includes 24 original gicleé prints – collector’s items in themselves. Plus two accompanying text books. Artist and designer Paul Rattigan directed the design and production.

This is a new label I have designed for some friends
for their Drumcondra produced ale. It features
the traditional redbrick to be seen in this area of
North Dublin.
I'm partial to a bit of Whitstable myself, but after the
surge of interest in Galway Hooker ale, who knows
maybe 2010 in year of the Irish ale? I'd link
to the Galway Ale website but it's an embarrasment.
